One of our favorite places to belly up to the bar, have a few drinks, and get a burger. Love the atmosphere and the that is played as we enjoy our experience. It is a bar and we love it for being just what it is and they do it well!

Great burgers. I've tried them all. The Becky Burger which won the best burger in northern Indiana is fantastic. I will go back and bring my freinds. They just informed me that smoke free lunches are starting in October

The server was great, really welcomed me into SB. As for the burgers as I needed to try - I thought the burger was great for the price, but not the best. Would I eat it again, yes. But saying it's the best burger is not my recommendation.

I want to try their burgers, but friends say the smoke is absolutely terrible. I cannot imagine how busy this place would be if they would go smoke-free. Smoking makes It one of the worst atmospheres in town.

This place is awesome! They definitely have the most delicious burger in town, and good fried food as well. Further, on Tuesdays, burgers are only $3.50, and pitchers of beer are only $3.00 (they each used to be $2, but alas). The atmosphere is definitely enjoyable - it has a the vibe of a long-lived, family-owned bar. It has been around for as long as I can remember. The beer selection is sort of mediocre, but the mixed drinks are always very strong, well made, and cheap. Also, the service never fails to be stellar. My wife and I love this bar, and try to stop by whenever we are in South Bend. To us, it is definitely the best bar in South Bend. I will mention however, that it is very, very smokey. If you don't care about the smoke, it is absolutely a 5-star legend of an establishment. If you do care, it is a big downer coming home and smelling like smoke. I am not a fan of the smoke, but to me, its worth it. I strongly recommend the Becky Burger --- it is amazing.

I went to Notre Dame and as a student this was not a place you heard talked about a lot. It wasn't until my 5th year of school I even heard about it, but I was sad that I had been missing out all these years! My friends and I started going there pretty regularly on Tuesdays for the $3 burgers and loved it. The View is definitely a dive bar. Sometimes you'll get some strange looks walking in there if you aren't a regular but it's all worth it for the burgers. The burgers are cheap and delicious. I mean absolutely DELICIOUS! I was so surprised. I wouldn't reccomend the wings. The goulash is decent. But definitely reccomend the burgers.

Nasty, nasty, nasty... And that's just the waitress; don't get me started on the filth that is this place. How they don't get shut down by the health department is beyond me. If you want to hang out with old folks who have grown roots into their chairs and if you'd like to leave smelling like a 3-day-old ashtray, this is your place. Not much to see at 'The View.'

I have always enjoyed The View but will not overhype it here because it is small and a dive bar. Tuesdays are always busy at the view and for good reason - $3 burgers and $3 pitchers. They make a good burger and it's cheap to go along with cheap beer. Not a whole lot else to come for so I won't give it more than 3 stars but it is worth a stop in for a good burger and some cheap beer.

Potentially the best burger in south bend, and a shout outto our waitress April for the awesome service. I will return to try the award winning Becky Burger, but kept simple with a double cheeseburger. Very very tasty.

This place is legit!!! Mixed feelings at first because we saw they had won best burger in northern Indiana, but had lower reviews on yelp because of the smoking. We decided to at least drive by and the outside seating had us convinced to stay. I can't handle smoke and it is smokey. I ordered the award winning "Becky" burger with fries and my husband had the "homicide" burger with fries. They cut the burgers in half so we were able to share a half each. We each liked our own orders the best. The Becky is worthy of an award. The blend of ingredients makes it one of those rare burgers that needs no ketchup. The fries were great too. All natural and perfectly cooked. None of that skinny crap, or frozen potato paste you'd expect from a semi-hole in the wall place. Nope! This place is legit. Service was great too! We will be back but only during the summer so we can sit outside or until Indiana enacts smoking bans. Then I'll make this a 5 star review.

If you appreciate a dive bar like I do, then this is your place. The View has that beautiful balance of old school blue collar ambiance meets vintage, dingy, but not totally run down feel. You can feel this before even opening the front door. The beers were cold and priced well. The wings were actually pretty good. The bartender was a blast; hardworking, knowledgable, and could dish it out as well as take it. Check it out.

I walked into this bar with some friends and was immediately greeted not by a hostess, but by a blanket of cigarette smoke. I quickly remembered I had come in to eat a meal and my brain told me to "get out fast". To the places credit the wait staff was very nice, but we decided to stay and have a drink and a spray of cigarette cologne instead. Even though they might have a great burger, I wouldn't be caught dead eating it. Also, there was a crack head out behind the restaurant who added to the ambiance of the place. If you like smoking dirts, this is your place.

Daily lunch specials that have nearly made me ruin my phone from drooling on it (and they don't even do the actual food justice) and now with the smoke free lunches? Don't forget The Best Burgers in Northern Indiana (complete with caps because the won that), the drink specials and the great staff.

The burger was delicious but I can't give it 5 star because my call in order was not correct. I ordered a single cheeseburger with fries and I was craving fries. I received a double cheeseburger with kettle chips. If going off the taste and flavor of the burger it would get 5 star. It was so big I ate it in two days but very delicious.

First and foremost, The View (aka Parkview Tavern) is a bar and a smokey one at that! Back in the day they had $2 Tuesday with $2 burgers and pitchers of beer. Nowadays, it's still a bargain at $3.50 a burger (plus $1 for fries) and $3 pitchers of beer. My husband and recently stopped in on a Tuesday to grab a burger and a couple beers (which turned into several hours and several pitchers!). Service is always great, even when crowded. It's a good burger for $3.50 and I'm sure some of their other burgers are even better. Onion rings and fries are always crisp and hot...and you can't beat their daily drink specials. However, the smoking continues to be the biggest turnoff for us. It's not very appealing to eat with constant smoke and I hate coming home and smelling of cigarette smoke. We would definitely frequent more if they went smoke-free!

The Becky Burger is THE BOMB. The bun was toasted perfectly. My husband had the Homicide Burger. He liked it but wasn't crazy about the relish. I was not crazy about the Texas Fries because the ranch dressing was on the fries. I would rather have it on the side. But my husband liked them. It is definitely worth the trip for the burgers alone. The last thing I want to mention is the smoking. There is a huge sign on the front door that it is a smoking place so don't complain in your review that you smell like cigarette smoke when you leave...you know it going in. Thank God there's one place left, that you can smoke.
